Real waiting time on Yeti diesel - catalyst2

We'd like to buy either a Yeti Diesel or Sportage or possibly a Qashqai (we're at the exploration stage). We're aware that there are long waiting times for Yetis, longer than what dealers say. In your experience, what are the real current waiting times on Yeti diesels? (6 months?)

Also, what is the best time to buy a car? (I remember reading it was at end of term, is that end of September?)

I got mine in about 16 weeks.

The delivery times now (depending on the model) vary between 20weeks and possibly never (ala the Ix35).

The 170bhp and anything with a dsg combination are apparently the biggest "problem" specs. I know of at least 2 people with a 170DSG on order that goes back to late 2010 with no confirmed build date.

To your other question:- There is never a best time to buy a car that has a high waiting time if you are looking at it from a money saving exercise :-)

I would have a look on the Yeti section of the Skoda forum (Briskoda). You will get accurate information and, if you want it, a lot of information and advice on the car.

Got mine inside 3 weeks and sold it within 10 months.

Wouldn't touch another Skoda with a barge pole.

You've had bad luck, Buster. Skoda always do well in satisfaction surveys, as do Toyota: I seem to remember that Mrs Buster had an unreliableYaris: my daughter, who drives like a bat out of hell, is on her fourth 1.3 Yaris, with no problems at all so far.

I hope that whatever you have now - presumably neither Skoda nor Toyota - have done better for you.

my daughter, who drives like a bat out of hell

I gather she gets that from her mother then?

If she hasn't had any problems, why is she on number four?!

A woman who can rag three Toyota's and drives like the car's on fire. My sort of woman. I wonder how much damage she could do in the bedro....*Realises Avant may be reading*

Thanks everyone, partner has finally decided that she finds the Yeti too ugly... We'll be test-driving the Sportage soon (a diesel).

About the best time to buy a car, I remember reading that the end of the month or end of term (can't remember exactly - I am not into cars) was usually the best time, due to objectives that dealers have to meet. Although in the case of the Sportage, maybe it is different as I understand demand is high.

"If she hasn't had any problems, why is she on number four?!"

She gets them on PCPs and changes them every 2 to 3 years. The first three Yarises were still as good as new when she traded them in despite quite high mileages. And yes, she probably gets her driving style from her mother (neither of them sees this forum which is just as well....).

Jamie, the naughty step has about 57 others below it, so someone come and administer a push-start. :)
