Hi all

my daughter borrowed my car yesterday. She got onto the main road, and when she went to put it into 5th gear, she said it cut out and stopped. She did manage to restart it, and managed to get it back to me at 30mph only. Its chucking white smoke out. I'd like an idea of possible causes, so when I have it looked at, I'm not being ripped off. Also does it have a timing belt or chain?

Perhaps she gave it an Italian tune up, was she nearly into 3 figures when she put it into 5th. LOL.

Possibly bearing on the turbo worn & spewing oil into the exhaust.

Check your oil level.

Belt on these. 100k change interval.

Is there any squeaking/rattling from the timing belt end of the engine? Those engines can be prone to suffering from failure of the crankshaft pulley which can then cause problems with the timing belt.

Morning all. Managed to get a guy from a local garage to pop round last night. Guess what.........

she's put b***** petrol in in stead of diesel...bless her.....not !!!!!

So its getting syphoned today and the filter replaced.

Why didn't she 'fess up-did she think no one would find out?! What are the bus services like in your area?
