Rover 75 CDT problem - Giuseppe Paoletti
Hello,
I'm an Italian owner owner of a Rover 75 CDT Connoisseur; after a couple of months I start heard some noises from front suspension, especially from the right side. The noise is much stronger when the car is cold; I replace the right shock-absorber, but nothing has changed.
The retailer told me that all the 75's has the same problem, and soon will be a recall in order to solve it.
Is that true? Do English 75 owners has this problem? Should I be patient and wait for a recall or what else can I do?
Please, help me, I'm in deep trouble!!!!
Many thanks,
Giuseppe Paoletti

Dear Giuseppe,

Rover 75s, especially the diesel, have had slightly clonky front suspension from launch. It's a 'characteristic' rather than a problem. I guess you are driving the car like a true red-blooded Italian when you're really supposed to be cruising around like a middle-class Englishman. But I'll add the problem to the car by car breakdown.

Being new to this site it has taken me some time to contribute to this thread but as I understand it the position is that it is a lubrication problem with the dampers/shock absorbers. Rover started replacing them under warranty but has stopped because they realise its a design problem. When its fixed there will be a recall.
Unfortunately Guiseppe will have to put up with the problem for some time.

Despite this interesting to see the high place of the 75 in the JD Power survey.

Stuart,

Sorry it's taken me even longer to spot this but were you the first "real" member of the public here?

Not as long as it took me to notice this thread.

Goodness you've been around a long time, Stuart.
