My son was working in France last year and bought an ancient, left hand drive, Toyota Corrolla automatic. It only cost him £400 and has been a fantastic workhorse, touring both France and Italy before driving back to the UK with not a spot of bother.
Unfortunately he has now gone to Spain to work and left the car with me and asked me to scrap it. Although it is very elderly it is a fantastic runner and I would think it had several more years life left before it totally gives up, so it does seem sad to crush the car, besides which I am not sure whether I can legally do this in this country.
Does anyone know whether the French “DVLA” would accept the fact that the car is scrapped and delete the details from their records or is there some other way of selling the car in this country legally. The French ‘CT” doesn’t expire until 2012 but it is out of the 6 month initial period when it can be legally sold.
Anyone got any ideas? I’m sure it would suit someone with a holiday home in France!
