volvo - Heater not working - monkeynut

Hi, this morning the heater in my car didnt work, it just blew cold air constantly. It was working fine last night.

Also i have a cd changer in the back and it was reading as empty even though there are cd's in it. It went down to -15 last night and im wondering whether this could have had an impact??

I cant really afford to take it to the garage to get it looked at unless its absolutely necessary.

Bare in mind with your answers that i know very little about cars!!

Have you checked the coolant is protecting you at -15. The pipes may have frozen. Regards Peter

Well weirdly it has suddenly started working. I checked the coolant which was fine and just ran the engine for half an hour and eventually it kicked in. I hope it doesnt do this every morning :S

I would suspect as the other Peter said that you dont have a high enough concentration of antifreeze for the very low temperatures we have had the last few days, top your header tank up with neat antifreeze.
