Buying a car with mouldings - artan

Spotted a car I want being sold with the fitted mouldings at the sides, front and back. The mouldings are not part of the standard kit of that model.

What are the implications of these mouldings? Will they make my insurance more expensive? Anything I should be aware of when inspecting the car?

They are modifications and have to be declared. They will probably up your premium.

Are you talking about stick on door protectors or the full plastic go faster sill mouldings.

Are they official manufacturer's items, or general all-purpose flashy bits which can be cobbled together to fit any car

I don't know if it official manufacturer's items or not. I haven't seen the car yet. Just photos.

What difference does it make?

It's more of protectors. They are plastic strips on bumpers and doors at knee-height level.

They are just stick on scratch protectors they will not effect your insurance.

.....wonders if stick-on scratch protectors spoil the look of a car more than scratches do !!

I also see you can buy stick-0n bumper protectors! What about stick-on bumper protector protectors to protect the bumper protectors!!!

You buy the car, as is, you have no knowledge of any modifications, how would you? You're not a car dealer. just a buyer.
