VW/Audi - 20,000 mile service intervals - Trilogy

I'm used to having my Tdi serviced at 10,000 miles. I'm looking to buy a newer Tdi and am shocked to find cars now having 20,000 mile gaps in servicing. Do the advavances in oil really make this OK, bearing in mind the apparent longevity a diesel engine?

Nothing to stop you slipping an oil change in at half way intervals i and many others would, DIY or a garage using quality oil and genuine filters, keep the receipts for proof, a private buyer would be pleased to see the extra care.

There have been lots of discussions about oil changes and there is no infinite answer.I wouldt worry if the manufacturer states 20000 miles for oil change.Oil and filter will be fine if the right spec is used.More inportant is brake items and disc checks maybe on a interim check.
