Nissan Micra SE 2003 - How to disable parking sensors - onepinkelephant

Hi

I recently bought a Nissan Micra with inbuilt parking sensors. However I want to take my driving test in it but have been told by the DSA that I need to be able to switch off the sensors for my manoeuvres. Anyone got any idea how to do this as I have checked the handbook but am drawing a blank?

I wouldn't mind them being switched off permenantly as I don't need them in the Micra - so if it was a permenant solution (that doesn't involve a hammer) that would be ok

thanks

I have the same sensors on my Note and Xtrail.

Remove the spare wheel and boot carpet. On the floor will be a wire going to the rear bumper area. Snip it and tape the ends off. Try the sensors they should now be not working. If you need to have them later on, just rejoin the wire and tape off the joint.

It should be fairly obvious which wire it is, as it won't be one of the ones originally there when the car was made. Rear parking sensors are/were a dealer fit option so it' will look a 'bit out of place' compared to all the other ones in the harness. If in doubt consult an auto electrician as it's a two minute fix for him.

If you trace the wires through the luggage space they go to a small plastic box just pull out the feed plug.

If you do cut them make sure you cut each wire individually as your likely to put a short on the system if you blindly cut the cable.

find the fuse box, identify the correct fuse for the parking sensors and just remove it for the test

Whats wrong with pulling out the supply plug, removing the fuse will disable other items as I do not think there is a designated fuse just for the reversing sensors

Thanks everyone

Managed to find the control box for the sensors and unplugged the buzzer so no more noise and easy to replace after the test.
