Fiat Bravo - Clutch slipping - Cause? - allan doc

I hve a 1996 Fiat Bravo 1.6 which has done 30,000 miles. When I accelerate fast the engine revs up but car doesn't move until I take the power from the accelerator. Does this mean the clutch is burnt out or could it be that the clutch needs adjusted?

Most modern clutches are self adjusting, it shouldn't be worn at 30k unless it has been abused, it could be that it has oil on it but the more you let it slip the quicker it will fail, if you drive it carefully and don't let it slip it could last thousands of miles more.
