Renault Laguna - Will they sell - Armstrong Sid

I see from the "News" columns at the side of this forum that Renault are about to unleash a new improved Laguna upon the world. I wonder if the total number of sales in the UK will get into double figures this time.

IThe Mk1 seemed to do pretty well, and there still seem to be quite a few Mk2s around; but how may Mk3s do you ever see? The fact that the bodywork appeared to be stuck-on flat plastic panels probably didn't help

The laguna in its current form is not an attractive car but its no more ugly than some others cars on the road that Kia Cube thing springs to mind as well as the new Mini off road thing.

I had a MK1 Laguna and it was a good car not alot of issues apart from routine service plus a new radio, and waterpump at 137,000 miles.

A friend has one of the new not so pretty Lagunas and he has covered 30,000 trouble free miles in the car he cannot praise its reliability high enough.

I hope it sells as its something a bit different on the road.

I hope it does, so that confidence can be built again.

I understand that despite the slightly unfortunate look from some angles of the current one, it's a good comfy car.

And I know that most are hatches or tourers but you know, every now and again, I keep looking at the coupe and think... "oh, yes please"!

But then I start worrying about rumours of alleged poor reliability; so many people going on about dodgy French electrics and, of course, the big depreciation.

But heck, it is a lovely car to look at - the coupe.

I take your point. The Mk1 Laguna was a decent workaday car in my eyes although I dislike French cars. Everything else that came after were disastrous cars by all accounts.
