Peugeot 307 1.6 HDi Sept 2005 - MoT Failure on Emissions - Mirage150

My 307 has just failed the MoT on emissions. I have no warnings on the dash and my mechanic is unsure of where to start to address the problem. The average Smoke reading is 3.28 (pass is 3.00) with the peak 3.81 and lowest 1.91.

Any advice would be much appreciated

Thanks

Hi,

I would change the oil & filter, fuel & air filter. Then take it for an italian tune up just before you take it back. Give it some wellie through the gears and keep your foot down hard accelerating in 3rd gear. Drive it hard for a good 10 miles and then straight to the test centre. I'll sail through.....

Your figures are very close to the mark - so a good clean out of the engine & exhaust will work wonders. My '02 406 hdi get's that treatment every year and it always goes through the test without any problems.

Hope this helps
