My local VW dealer has offered me a brand-new unregistered pre-realigned 2.0 Golf SE Estate in a solid red colour for approx £12500 (£3000) off list, with an approx figure of £5000 and my car (W 2000 Bora 1.6SE 30000ml Flash red exc cond) cost to change. Say's he has extra bonus off VW to shift pre-realigned stuff, but I'm a bit worried about petrol estate residuals, he knows I've got itchy feet about swopping my car while waiting for the Touran to come out. Anybody out there know if this is a good deal or not? on the surface it looks like a good deal, but you never get nothing for nothing in this world! Another VW dealer said "snap his hand off" but then he would wouldn't he?
Any ideas guys?

Assuming that the Golf is the car you want, that is a great deal. It won't be as practical as a Touran, either, but you are saving a good £3k or so against the Touran. Depreciation on that estate will be pretty high for a VW (and higher than on a Touran) but mainly because it's an old-shape Golf. The petrols don't hold their value as well as the diesels, but it should be worth about £7k in three years' time, against £8.5k for the diesel and £10k for a £16k Touran diesel at three.
In my opinion, a Focus is a better car if you don't want the VW feel/residuals. £7500 is an excellent trade in for the Bora, too. The car itself is cheap enough to do the deal, but the question is also whether it is really the one you want, or whether something more economical or practical might be worth the small extra cost.

VW aren't getting any of my money until they sort out their incompetent dealers! And I can't wait that long. Tally of VW's since 1980 = 7. I really like the Golf Mk iv (have Passat at present) so am regretful but resolute.
Hello son's of Soichiro. When's the Type S Civic available?

You may have a long wait.
I had a run of VWs but a few years back I went for a new Golf GTI Turbo and met such a "we're doing YOU a favour" attitude to supplying the car that I left it and went elsewhere - haven't been back since.
