Ford Focus - anti roll bar links wore out in 5 months - fredblogs

Hi, I wonder if anyone could explain to me what would cause anti roll bar links to wear out so quickly.

Back in January i replaced both front anti roll bar links on my 1999 115,000 mile focus. Over the past couple of weeks I have had a creaking sound when driving around corners. On investigation I found that on both ball joints on the passenger side link the rubber sheath has come away from the ball joint allowing all the grease to escape. Is there anything that could cause this to happen so quickly as I assume the previous links were on the car since new? I had only done about 5000 miles since January. Or were the links I bought defective.

Thanks

There has been a similar problem with Citroen Xantia/XM links wearing out quickly, I think the problem is caused by insufficient grease when new, the last couple I have changed I have taken the boot off and filled it right up with grease and have had no trouble since.

Are you talking about the drive shafts and grease escaping out of the rubber gaiters? Pretty sure the anti roll bar links have no lubricant.

Maybe they are not the same as the Citroen ones then, they have ball joints at the ends.
