Swallows fly faster on the Cape UK route - oilrag

Amazing really to think of them gasping and flapping their wings along the route between the Cape and well, just `South Of Leeds`

I mean, If you were a chicken looking up as they overflew you - as you were say, pecking up a bit of corn in Istanbul and wondering if you could join them. Perhaps a glorious moment - up to around 6` - and then `plop` back into the dirt having succumbed to your Jungle Fowl genes.

`Dang` - (you would shout to the Cockerill who was eyeing you up from the fence - waiting his chance) "I`m not up for it"

Cos it`s best to be light and fast as you fly over the Sahara - or it`s a crash landing and no chance of rising Phoenix like out of the ashes on one engine. - You might manage a cough, but a koffman starter, you have not.

Strong wings.

They seem feebler and slower when seen in the Philippines. Perhaps just hanging around locally with no need to go on the Cape run twice a year.

How people must have longed for their freedom though. On the battlefields of history. Looking up and (with a nod to `Hillsides` in War And Peace) just longing to fly with them rather than a death as a pawn in a Generals chess set.

There are over a hundred right now, overflying the meadow beyond the back garden.

Summer in the UK. Maybe.
