Citroen Xsara 53 hdi - Heater/air con vents on permanently - cottontop

A couple of days ago i discovered the I couldn't turn the airblowers in my Xsara off. Even with the switch turned to off it was sending air through and when I turned the blowers on it increased. It was a pain in the neck on holiday so the only way I could get it turned off was to remove the fuse (No.18).

Does anyone know what the procedure is to repair ? I'd do it myself but as there isn't a Haynes Manual for the car I'm loathed to send it into the dealer !!

If it uses the same blower unit as the Xantia there is a speed control module with two transistors on the motor, the transistors go faulty.

Well I called a citroen dealer to discuss....

They quoted £130 for the resistor unit (+ VAT)

and £134 for the whole blower unit (which includes the resistor).

I think someone is trying to wind me up....

FW26025A1
