Hi,I have just bought a new 59 plate Ford Mondeo Titatium X with delivery miles on the clock from Arnold Clark in Leyland. The car is perfect in every way but i didn't receive a second key with the salesman stating that the second key would arrive by recorded delivery to them and they would forward it on by recorded delivery to me.They said that this usually takes about a week.
Has anyone else had this thing happen to them.Is it normal practice or am i being fobbed off whereas i'll never receive the key?

Similar happened when we bought a car from Motorpoint in 2002.

you are not allowed to name and shame on this forum. Otherwise I would have responded to your post re A Clark.
|
I am not naming and shaming anyone. Its a simple question.

Ah did the Citroen dealers hold out for too much on the C5 or did you go off it? I was looking forward to a fellow new C5 owner on here... it's a bit lonely in the chevron corner.
Arnold Clarke have a reputation online for forgetting service history, second keys, spare wheels etc. Hope everything else is fine with yours.

I didn't go off the Citroen C5.Its a fantastic car.The dealers near me wouldn't budge on the price and were offering me a very poor trade in so i decided to look elsewhere.
The Titanium X has a list price of £26500(with paint) and i bought mine for £17500 which is a 9 grand saving. They also gave me a fantastic part ex price for mine and a full tank of fuel.It was an offer i couldn't refuse. The Mondeo is brill.Lovely soft ride, bags of room and very refined. The boot is huge too.
You have a very good memory M.M to remember my other postings!!.

But sadly no spare key!

A 9K saving buys a lot of spare keys.

You obviously haven't had to buy one of the current generation of keys!

I tend to remember the Citroen stuff! Good luck with the Mondeo anyway.
|
Nobody else picked up on 'fobbed off' then?
sorry, it's been a slow day!

>>>>>>>> i was going to respond but was afraid it would be blipped out
|
Only a remote chance of that.
|
Your salesman reminds me of a singer I once had the misfortune to play for......
He also couldn't find the key and didn't know when his part would come in exactly......
:-)
|
Both keys with the CC3 on delivery, which was brand new, not pre-reg.
I think I would have been a bit grumpy if both keys were not present.
Videodoctor can look forward to receiving a second fully remote, folding key.
Gone are the days when the second key was second rate, at least in the case of Ford's premium models.
|
gave me a 'barrell' of laughs though.
Coat coming off hook as I type...

... please give us a call, and we will help you out...
A few posters in the last year or so have had a go at 'a certain Scottish dealer chain', so fair play to Arnold Clark for keeping an eye on the forum and posting a response to the OP.

Update:-
I have finally got my spare key fob and two metal keys for my Mondeo. After contacting Customer services on the above number they arranged to have a new fob ordered and new blades cut.
But after going to the local Ford dealer to take details of my car,i got a call from Arnold Clark in Leyland to say the fob and keys had turned up.
I now have them in my possession and they are working fine.
Top marks to Alasdair at Customer services who has promised to send a cheque to the value of a full tank of fuel for the inconvenience.
Alls well that ends well!

Update again.
I received a £50 cheque from Arnold Clark customer services as promised above. Its a pity that the place i bought it from didn't rate customer service as high as their main office.
