09 1.6 OK to use VAG Longlife oil in 1.6HDI - Dr Rubber
Is it OK to use VW Longlife III (5W30) oil in my Citroen 1.6HDI? I have a few litres left from my old car, and I'm too much of a skinflint to buy any more unless I need to ;-) . The specs look similar, but my handbook is in German so I can't tell if I'm missing any small print!

Probably, but I've not tested it and I suspect nobody else has. Why risk it - the VAG oil is expensive, so if you sell it to a friend at a good price, you can get the correct oil for your PSA engine and not lose out.

It's hardly worth the risk - if there were to be an incompatibility with seals or other components in the engine, you would regret it.
