05 1.6 General Query: Heated Front Windscreen - andyrooo82
Hello everyone hope you can help,
I bought my mk6 fiesta in the summer and have now just found out (as I'm sure many people do at this time of year) that my heated front windscreen doesn't work correctly. from what i understand the passenger and driver side are split. it manages to de-mist quite a large chunk (but not all) on the passenger side but only a couple of thin lines on the drivers side. does anyone know of any troubleshooting steps i could take before i hand it over to Ford for them to charge me through the you know what. i've seen other posts where people say about checking the relay, checking the earth, checking the connections but from what i understand their HFS wasn't working at all.
(fingers crossed the element isn't broken, can't tell though cos the wires are so thin)

Don't take it anywhere near a Ford Main Dealer, they will charge you a fortune. What's more, they won't do the job but will farm it out to a windscreen specialist. I know this because my Mondeo has to have a new heated screen fitted under warranty. Took it into my local FMD, they got Autoglass to do it. No complaints at all, first class work and they used an original screen (Ford don't make them, by the way!)
