My rover 200 is suffering from an intermittant problem (once every 2-3 days) where there is no engine response when I turn the key in the barrel - all the lights on the dash illuminate and I hear a fast two-tone bleep.
If I remove the key, lock and un-lock the door (with the remote fob) the engine starts OK. I would appreciate it if anybody could offer any advice on what could be happening.

Can anyone help adampbrown with this query? Have you tried some electrical contact cleaner in the barrel and give it a good wiggle. It may also be worth getting any ECU codes read by an indie. I can suggest a good Rover independant if you are in the South Yorkshire area.

This refers to the previous gen 200 but may be of help?
