Took the wife and kids to Southwold yesterday for a paddle and an ice cream.
On route I saw countless classic cars, MG's, Rovers, Triumphs but the biggest surprise was a beautiful Aston Martin Lagonda in gun metal grey. I'de never seen one in the flesh before.
I pointed out to my wife it was quite a rare beast but she seemed totally uninterested, bless 'er!

Think there were quite a few events on yesterday... up at Gaydon we had 29 Maxis(!) and there were lots of other cars... great day out!

On the seafront at Southwold was a very used looking L reg Austin 1300 Mk 3 in a bright orangey/red.
It looked like the car Basil Fawlty thrashed with a tree branch.
Oddly enough it was getting some 'admiring' glances from lots of passers by.

That slim steering wheel at a funny angle (but not as funny as the angle of the steering wheel in an 1800), that strip speedometer, the whole thing looks absolutely different from today's squashy interiors with everything encased in rolls of sausage-like plastic and a steering wheel like a month-old drowned sheep...
Of course you needed your elbows to be clear when the thing put its tail out without warning on a damp motorway at 80 in the outside lane...

The reason for lots of classics on the road yesterday was because it was "Drive it day"
