Well My C1 just had its 1st service & 1st time back to the dealer since purchase this time lst year. Well what can i say, its been perfect. Can't fault it for a cheap car & my daughter loves it.£35 for a years tax & only needs filling up once a month.
No rattles, no sqeaks & no issues so ticks all the right boxes for me. Holding its price quite well is an added bonus. lets hope the 2nd year is as good as the first.

How much was the first service? Be interesting to compare what Toyota charge for the Aygo.
One year on ! - injection doc
£152 all in. The dealer is huge but I have to say although we have only ever been their 3 times, once to buy once to collect & now for the first service they have been 1st class. I did get one or two quotes first from other Citreon dealers on the area & the dearest was £270 so the supplying dealer turned out to be the best deal for the service as well Im pleased to say.

Toyota charge around £100. How any garage can justify £270 for an oil change beggars belief.

That is how Citroen make profits: not car sales but service..

My Yaris costs less to service...- the 20,000 miles service is under £220...the 10,000 miles one £120...

Citroen are currently offering a fixed price service deal - think the C1 was £275 for first 3 years and £325 on the C5
One year on ! - Happy Blue!
Having borrowed a C1 last year for a few weeks, I was smitten by its 'joie-de-vivre' and found it hard to dislike especially with 60mpg easily attainable and sufficiently nippy to keep me happy despite usually driving a 3.0 litre 245bhp beast.

well i must be rather unlucky.

yes the car is fun to drive, petrol consumption fine, but (at last count) 18 visits to the dealer since i bought my C1 in Jan 2009(yes... 9 months ago) i certainly couldn't recommend this car to anyone.

various new parts, broken trim, and a main dealer that uses chimps to repair problems, and now a metallic rattle under the car that appears impossible to find.

anyone got some petrol and a match?

You buy a French car and you expect service?

"now a metallic rattle under the car that appears impossible to find"

Exhaust? I had an exhaust that produced the most awful racket if soaked in a big puddle - but it was on a 20 y/o 205!

One year on ! - Statistical outlier
On my Xsara, the metallic rattle that was impossible to find was the exhaust fouling on the suspension crossbrace just behind the front axle. An additional kink introduced in the pipe solved it.
One year on ! - madf
On a Citroen Saxo, the exhaust pipe retaining bracket on the downpipe snapped where attached to the gearbox and rattled when reversing. An easy welding job.

Your rattle is likely to be a loose exhaust or exhaust heatshield (if fitted).

Or a loose baffle in the exhaust.. or the cat has broken up..

Its not a french car it wasn't even designed in France as far as I know.

I think the comment was more about the ability of Citroen dealers to fix problems and their approach to customer service.

It's the main reason why we chose the Aygo over the C1 and 107 - Toyota dealers usually get good reports and so far ours provided excellent service, but the Aygo hasn't been back 19 times!

Two year old C1.Oil changed every year.No rip off Citroen services No problems.Have i been lucky?

Only the other day I was thinking about car makers who share platforms with others and how they can market and sell what is effectively the same car.

For those who bought a C1, what made you choose it over the Peugeot 107 or Toyota Aygo?

One year on ! - watergate
Just the price.
One year on ! - daveyjp
We wanted the Toyota due to dealer reports. When it came down to it for the spec we wanted the Toyota was also cheapest.

ive driven one of these and they are quicker than the heavy C3 or Peugeot 207 older brother. But I wouldnt like to be in a crash in one. Very tinny.
One year on ! - injection doc
I bought the Citreon version as it was 6k for a 5dr & it had ABS & stability control & PAS & twin air bags & N cap4 rating which is not bad for a small car.Its also very nippy.
AudiA6! it may be tinny but it whether luck is on your side in the event of an accident. I was involved in a very serious high speed accident involving an AudiA6 that hit me & the audi caught fire with the driver trapped so big isn't always best!

I should add its now 18 months on & 18000 miles & its still been perfect & rattle free. What can I say apart from the fact that as a town car its brilliant & we still fight over who's using it!
I have no complaints what so ever.
I have 2 neighbours that also have them & they have also enjoyed trouble free motoring,

well well well, just past its 5 year mark, flew through its MOT.

Still perefct and no rattles, still returning 60-70 mpg.

Todate, 1 set of pads, 2 front tyres, 1 indicator bulb & wiper blade Thats it !!!!!!!!!

5 + years of motoring , excellent little car, would buy another one tomorrow.

Puts my landrover to shame, Landrover should be embarresed of the unreliability & appalling service

I could of bought 5 Citreon C1's for what my landrover cost & all 5 together would still be worth more than my landrover with just 20K on the clock !

My SiL is on her third C1. She gets them on th elease plan. She loves them. afaik she's had no real issues with any of them.

Our Aygo did 6 years, then the French electrics started playing up and the boot was never dry due to failed seals on the rear lights.

We took advantage of the excellent residuals and traded it.

In 6 years. Usual service items, 4 tyres, front discs and pads, wiper blade. Warranty work was, water pump, extra door seals, new boot lock.

Injection Doc,

How many miles has your C1 done please?

SWMBO is looking for a new (to her) car and likes them. Not an easy job finding a car she likes the look of that fits the budget and I am happy with!

Some owner reviews indicate them getting a bit tired at around 60K.

Has anyone driven and compared one of these with an Up / Citigo / Mii?

Road testers always say that the newer design is better, but they would, wouldn't they. The Aygo etc seems still to be popular.

One year on ! - daveyK_UK

Bloke I work with has a diesel aygo, paid £9,000 for it a few months old.

Its now on a 58 plate.

Only problem has been rainwater getting into the car.

Had it fully serviced by toyota, now on 120,000 miles and going fine.

Seems good.

One year on ! - daveyK_UK

I wanted to add.

the C1/107/Aygo and Mii/Up/City go models absolutly trounce the pixo/alto.

I have witnessed a 8 month old alto with rust!
