01 2.0 - rear drivers door lock problem - CarlP
Hi all

I'm unable to open my rear driver's door on my C5 hatchback and it's coming up to MOT time, this may be a fail if the tester cannot open the door.
I've had the top half of the panel off so can gain access to central locking unit, check connector is on and pull bar moves when handle is operated.
I'm suspecting that either the unit is not working or the solenoid is at fault as the dead lock is stuck in the bolted position as the door will not open or the solenoid is at fault.

I'm unemployed so costs must be a minimum for me or the car will be off the road due to funds to repair it.

Any ideas on removing the dead bolt manually from the lock with a locked door?

Appreciate anyone's help on this one please

Can't help with your problem, but you should be able to buy some extra time in getting it fixed as it's only the front drivers and passenger doors that have to open from both outside and inside the vehicle according to the testers manual.

My friend has got the same problem on a 52 plate Skoda Octavia - same door as well.

Anybody got any clues how to solve it? It's a taxi, so is out of use until problem fixed - what's more the taxi MoT does test all the doors for opening from inside and out.

Many thanks,

Dave.

Try locking/unlocking the car with one of the other doors open. This may free the door, albeit temporarily.

Thanks all for the replies tried opening the door while another door is opened but the rear door has no activity so have to take it when I have the money to get it repaired.
It's annoying more than anything, but thanks again for the answers.

hi,the same thing happended on our xsara 1.4 mk1 (w).only this time it was the rear passenger side door.it was intermitten, some days it would open other days it would'nt.so looked on the net and found that its a common fault.the central locking motor in the door was at fault.so looked on ebay and one was getting sold for £6 + p&p so i bought it and just kept on trying the door.then one day it worked so i replaced the motor and no problem now.hope this helps.

Hi,
I have the exact same problem on my xsara 1.4i (w reg)..
The door has been working well until a few days ago... now it will not open at all..
I can feel the movement of the locking system by placing my hand around the handle area whilst using the remote...
I can't see any way of getting the interior off as the door is permanently locked at the moment..
I have to get it mot'd in next few days and just phoned the mot garage... they told me that the door MUST be able to be opened... It is part of the mot test..
I think it is the deadlock that has jammed...
So I'm a little stuck...

Can you let me know exactly what you ordered from ebay... I'll try getting one similar and change it when the door finally opens..

Any help would be greatly appreciated..

Thanks
Jamie

You can remove the door card with the door closed. Look for the screws around the door handle and remove the speaker.

I've not owned a Xsara for 6 years so my mind is failing a little.

Hi, I have a similar problem on my 03 C5. The drivers side rear door stays locked but can be opened from the inside, However if I unlock the car from the outside using the remote fob, open any door, Once a door is open I press the lock button on the remote fob and the offending door unlocks! Strange but true. I don't really want to spend any money getting it fixed when this works.

my n/s/r door wouldnt open with key fob or keys on my c5 hdi vtr 54 plate. disconnected battery,no good, took door panel off and looked ok ,could feel motor clicking when pressing remote,so got a price from citroen garage 195 pounds.started saving up then 3 weeks later it started working on its own. about 5 weeks later o/s/r door did exactly same thing then 1 week later n/s/r did it again so i had no back doors working and looking at a 400 pound bill.someone told me the solenoids are prone to sticking so i took door panel off and with a nylon hammer gave about 4 taps on the motor/solenoid then locked the doors with key fob then opened them again with key fob then using the operating arm that connects the opening handle to the motor pulled it and the door opened.once the door is open you can remove the three bolts that hold the motor in place and give the motor a good spraying of wd40.i did exactly the same thing for the other door and it worked same.they have been fine now for about a month.the garage told me they have to smash them out to put new locks in thats why it costs 400 pounds, it cost me half a can of wd40 and about a hour an half of my time, hope it works for you.the money id started saving to pay the garage was wisely spent in my local pub.
