WMS warranty anyone had any experience ? - rogertb
Hi chaps, if anyone has seen my recent posts I've been having some minor grief deciding what to replace my ailing Rover 75 with, well I've solved the problem by buying a Rover 75. I now feel quite content, it's low mileage (24 thou') and was only £2K ... may not be the greatest deal in the world but the dealer is sound - anyway, to the point, he's offered me 3 months dealer warranty and reckons I can get a further 15 months (15 for the price of 12) for £150 through a firm called WMS, it will be what they call their 4* policy and seems reasonable, does anyone have any experience of them please ? Regards Roger

My 5 star cover does not cover the air suspension compressor on our range rover sport :-( they said it still works but not building up enough pressure, their excuse is it still works. No pumping up suspension though. Any excuse not to pay.. Save your money. I wish I had, the £700 policy ain't worth the paper it's written on

WMS warranty anyone had any experience ? - Car
Purchased a car with 3 month warranty supplied by the dealer, with with warranty management services on a car that we purchased, 2 months the coil packs failed replacement costs £225.00

Took into a specialist who called the warranty company and got authorisation over the phone in an hour and I got cheque in post about 7 days after posting invoice

Hope the above helps.

Check for any exclusions, I am not sure what engine you have but if its the K series I would want one which covers the head gaskets.

There has eben cases of warranty companies refusing to pay out on a Punto steering rack because its 'electric'.

Thanks 'car' that's encouraging ... and 'rattle' of course there's a long list of inclusions but it's obviously not total cover but it says (typically) "Excluded from cover ... all parts not listed above" - not very helpful, anyway for £10 a month it might give me a little peace of mind. Thanks for taking the time Roger

There are shoals of posts on here from people asking this general question. Most of the replies are from people who have paid out and found that the terms are too full of escape clauses. A few are from people who have been lucky.

Basically warranty cos. have to make a profit, or they can't pay out for long. On average the warranty-holders must therefore lose. Play the odds then, and put your warranty cash in a savings account and use it if you have to, or enjoy it some other way.

Utterly useless post. No detail, nothing.

ON ANY old car (such as a Rover 75) any afterarket warranty will be not much use, except as expensive toilet paper.

I can see the logic in getting a warranty on a 3 to 5 year old car from a well known company, but on a 8+ year old car just a waste of time.

But on any car bought from a dealership there is some liability in that it must be roadworthy and safe plus being generally fit for purpose.
