04 1.8 numberplate illumination not working - wozzatdci
Hi,

I have checked the bulbs and the fuse for the numberplate illumination and everything seems OK. What else could it be??? I have an MOT soon and am sure they will fail it if. Any ideas, please????

Check the bulb holder for rust/dirt on the terminals; if there is corrosion try sandpaper or a new bulb holder.

The terminals look fine. I am suspecting the GEM module as I have looked at the wiring diagram and other than the earth connection the only other thing is the GEM. I also have a problem with the intermittent function on the rear wiper - it doesn't do a full sweep and stops on random positions. I have swapped the relays around with the front wiper intermittent and the same thing happens so it isn't the relay.

HELP!

The lighting system on these does not travel through the gems module.More likely to be broken wires to the tailgate or a poor contact at the multi-pin connector in the n/s/r boot area where the wiring runs up the pillar.Have you checked all fuses in cabin fuse box?hth
