2004 2.2crd Clutch - sticking! - jedptc
Hi! My pt is 4yrs and 4 mths old, mileage 16,000. I was driving this morning and to my horror, the clutch started to play up. Felt like a lot of travel, and was impossible to select a new gear. Stopped and started the engine, pumped the pedal a few times, sometimes the gear crunched in sometimes not. The clutch is not engaging properly and either crunches in or not at all. Dang! Anyone had a problem? Any guidance? Anyone know what I am in for when it hits the dealer next week :-(

Thanks for any info!

Could be air in the hydraulics (if it isn't cable operated) poss due to a leaking slave cylinder.

Hi
Yes it is hydraulic and I would check the fluid level the 04 should have a reservoir next the brake reservoir but smaller and set back a little. If low look for a damp patch at the bottom of the gearbox as if the slave is leaking this is where you will see it. I am afraid it is gearbox out to replace and if it has got low it could be best to change the master and slave at the same time, as they are a nightmare to bleed and some come pre filled so it just plugs together. As the gearbox has to come out it is then up to you if you want to replace the clutch at the same time if it is getting warn/ high mileage. This maybe need anyway if fluid has leaked on it (but this doesn?t normally happen)
