Went to buy a Jaguar touch up stick for my xtype and Halfords stock NO Jaguar touchups at all? Is this just my branch? I asked the assistant in there but he had no idea.

I have found Halfords range of touch-up paints to be very limited, lacking even many common colours from popular ranges.

A big Halfords or a little one? Is the branch located in an area where there are likely to be a good amount of Jaguar owners? Or maybe Halfords do not stock Jaguar colour touch up pens because the average Jag owner doesn't generally do home paintwork touching up. I don't know a definitive answer but Halfords like any business won't stock things that have little chance of selling.

How much more do they charge at the Jaguar dealership?

No its a big Halfords in the posh part of Birmingham!
They had plenty of BMW and Merc sticks.
Its the small lipstick style stick Im after. Il try the Jag dealer.
I doubt they are very expensive, it was just the Halfords is a lot closer than the Jag dealer.

I needed touch-in paint for a Seat a couple of years ago. When i was in the dealer getting something else, i thought i might as well get the paint too for convenience. To my surprise it was about 2/3 the price of the Halfords offering.
Perhaps Halfords perception is that Jaguar owners either won't ... "get their hands dirty", or can afford not to ?

Touch up paint for my octavia was not available on the shelf at halfords, or at my local dealer. I ordered from my dealer in the end as it was it bit cheaper. The 300mm of vacuum pipe i went in for could for some reason, only be supplied in 15M lenghts. I bought this at my next visit to halfords.

Citroen dealers are cheaper than Halfords for touch up paint, it was a good colour match too.

If you give them the paint code for your car they can mix it for you, either as a touch up (which is cheaper than the touch up paints already mixed) or as a spray. Used them for 3 cars where they did not actually have the right colour, and they have been fine. Tends to be bigger branches though. Many suppliers on eBay who will mix small amounts as well - just give them the paint code. For example my Honda Civic in Sicillian red is paint code R500P, and from that number I have had several companies mix me small amounts of paint.

It's not the size of the Halfords branch that matters - their range of colours is simply poor everywhere. I also have found that the touch-up sticks/paints are as cheap or cheaper at a franchised dealer.

For what its worth, I have bought touch up sticks or similar from ebay from chaps who make them up to order. Very cheap and colour match was spot on. I too found Halfords range lousy, went to Jag to get one (cheap too!) however, imagine my frustration when the brush part came away from the lid and disintegrated. Therefore, I've tried my luck and been impressed with flea bay ever since!
