I have an Astra SRi CDTi 150, 2007, which Im very pleased with, but find it heavy on front tyres. The factory fitted Bridgstones lasted 20k, then fitted Avon's down to 15k, and I'm now on Pirelli P6000, currently done 5K and looking a bit worn. I'm mainly driving on fast country lanes. Rear's are still ok. tyre pressure 39 front 36 rear ? Any advise.

My petrol engined Zafira managed mid - 20,000's on first set of Continentals but looks like doing much more on the replacement Goodyears. A heavy engined & powerful diesel is doing well to get 20K I never managed more than 18K in a Megane 120DCi. You could try Michelin for wear with a possible trade off on grip.

depends on how you use those tyres - you say you're driving on fast lanes - that may be one of the reasons. Also it's a heavy diesel on front - I wouldn't be worried about this kind of usage.

If they are evenly worn then I suspect your right foot is responsible. Regards Peter

39 psi on the front seems a bit too high?
Mine is the sxi petrol 56 plate and run mine at 28psi front 26 rear, but im the only driver. size is 205/55 16 h
I know the diesel engine is the heavier beast but that does seem too high, my fronts are on the rear and they wear more in the middle due to too much pressure.
Why not try 32 psi front?

Those fugures are bonkers, pressures should be nearer 32/30 or threabouts, what's it say in the handbook?
|
Those tyre pressures the OP is quoting are the ECO pressure settings for the smaller sized tyres, and for up to 3 persons for the larger sized tyres. From the handbook:
Z 19 DT,
Z 19 DTH engines
205/55 R 16 & 225/45 R 17 sized tyres:-
Tyre pressure for load of up to 3 persons 33 front, 30 rear
Tyre pressure ECO loaded with up to 3 people 39 front, 36 rear
Tyre pressure for full load 36 front, 42 rear
215/45 R 17 & 225/40 R 18 sized tyres:-
Tyre pressure for load of up to 3 persons 39 front, 36 rear
Tyre pressure for full load 41 front, 45 rear
