98 1.9td Central Locking Fault - wolfmeister
Hi hope someone can help me before I blow my car up! Have a 98 1.9td 306 which I have recently lost the i/r remote key for and am still looking for.
I have been using the spare but tonight have the central locking has stopped working.
Basically the c/l kicks in locks then unlocks. I have such been unable to lock my car tonight and have had to put in garage.
Is this a problem with the central locking mechanism. I have checked all the doors and none are ajare etc.
Other question is how easy is it to get a replacement remote key. Obviously the new key will need to have the same transponder and match the existing key. Its driving me mad now!

New remote fobs come from your local dealer. Copies of keys can be got elsewhere, but are still expensive due to the coding in the key.

Sounde like one of the doors is telling the module that it's open even when it isn't-sticking microswitch in lock-don't know the Peugeot procedure for pinpointing but someone on here will.

it's more tha likely some of the wires have broke in the drivers door, very common 306 problem, you can check by pulling back the rubber grommet at the multiplug in the door jam. cost of repair depends on how diy minded you are, you can either strip and repair the relevent wires yourself if thats beyond you then your looking at a couple of hundred quid for an auto electrician to wire in a repair loom for you. (that's the very most it should cost which is overpriced imo but thats the market)

in the mean time you can remove the central locking fuse which will allow you to lock the doors manually which will keep you going

I take it its more likely to be the drivers door then. Only reason i question is the rear nearside door lock button doesnt push down as easily as the other ones. The doors seem like they are assisted by some motor if that makes sense.

Many thanks for your responses all
