Can anybody suggest what "goodwill gesture" I should ask for from a VW bodyshop that has had my new Tiguan for 7 weeks to repair a minor parking ding (left by an anonomous car) that they originally quoted 3 days to repair.? A goodwill gesture has been alluded to in my many frequent visits and phone calls to sort the problem out.
Thanks

After about 20 visits over 2 years to try and cure a leaking EOS roof a friend's VW dealer asked what they would like as a gesture of goodwill. Knowing it was due a service they asked for this to be done FOC (about £200 to them, far less to the dealer)- the dealer really baulked at this - kicking up a fuss in front of some prospective purchasers soon had them changing their ways.
For 7 weeks inconvenience you may get a dealership pen. I'd want to know why 7 weeks and I hope you know what mileage the car had done when you left it with them.

Have you actually *seen* the car or looked it over since it went in?

Good question AE - back in the 60s my father took his car for some more or less cosmetic body repairs. While at the body shop a truck reversed into it very heavily - the car ended up with a lot more repairs than it went in for.
As for the goodwill gesture, if it was a minor repair I wouldn't expect to be paying for it, that's for sure.

I looked at one of these for my wife earlier in the week.
Delivery time is quoted as 50 weeks. Who is going to wait a year for a VW ?
Dealership does have its own demonstrator available doesn't it ?

7 weeks? Very sinister. I'd want to go and see the vehicle.

Has it been re-called for styling updates, like its cousin the Cayenne? The Cayenne is so ugly that its tyres don't wear out as the road repels the whole vehicle.

Have seen the car since it went in, after the garages first attempt at repair, about 6 weeks ago, I have not seen such an appalling paint match in 30 years, managed to check the mileage then and it was the same as when it went in. The saga is ongoing
