Oh dear... does anyone know what this means? I've just attempted to do an HPI check for the Rover 75 I've been discussing but on entering the reg to get the vehicle details they don't find anything. This applies across more than one site including the 'proper' HPI one, and even on the search facilities for tyre places! I checked the service manual for the car and the same reg was written in the front of that... has anyone else encountered this before? I'm more than a tad concerned now :/

I think it is possible to check the existence and Tax/MOT/SORN state of a given Reg No on the DVLA site - somewhere! Be careful - this deal looks a bit iffy!

Dont panic hpi etc are very slow to catch up if its had a private no transfer etc. Phone the dealer and ask. Theres usually a good explanation

Check it on the DVLA site. www.taxdisc.direct.gov.uk/EvlPortalApp/

Hmm thanks, just tried it and they don't have it either! Tried calling them but can't get through, will now ring garage to find out if they know what the issue is. It doesn't have the original number plates on it, at least not on the back as it's not one of them horrible big crescent shaped ones they usually have...

Just to follow up and subject myself to further embarrassment.. I got the reg. wrong, the car's already been HPI checked by the place I was going to, and did, buy the car from :/
Oops...
