2004 1.9TDi ESP Warning Light - Nige55
I have just purchased a 54 reg Bora 1.9 TDi SE (100hp) after driving the car for 15 mins the ESP warning light comes on and stays on. I have pressed the ESP switch on the dashboard but the only way I have found to turn it off is to switch ignition off and restart.
What should I check to find the fault, could it be brakes or something more sinister?

If the ESP light is staying on; then there should be a fault-code stored in the ABS ECU.

As you're not getting ABS warnings as well; then it should be an ESP-only sensor, maybe the yaw/lateral G sensor [on the column?] or the steering angle sensor/calibration.

Get the code read and all will be revealed.
