I certainly don't polish my car that often, I haven't got the time to spare for a start. But I generally tend to stick to Autoglym products, they work for me (and my car) just fine.

I bought some "wash'n'wax" a while ago, it's not very good, as the 5L container is in the way when I go out of the back kitchen door. I hope it rains soon, the car's a bit muddy at the moment. I'd better stash the polish in the garage somewhere, or try it on the parquet.

I just polish my car once a year - depends on what product you use and how abrasive it is but over polishing can damage the top coat. I use Meguiars Crystal Polish and seal it to maintain the shine with an acrylic sealant that also layers on protection each time I use it - about once a month. I use Jeffs Werkstat Acrylic Jett - takes 15 minutes each time. In between I use their detailer spray to keep it looking good and that takes about 5 minutes. No real need for wax as the acrylic seems to protect just as well (possibly Collinite being an or the exception) IMO and saves tons of time.

I only polish once every two years as I wash with a dash of vinegar #: makes everything come up shiny..
# surplus from pickled onions: the onion juice makes all the difference:-)

Do you want to polish or wax? They are two differant things, polishing takes a small amount of paint away, wax is non abrasive and will leave some protection and enhance the look. There are sealants that will last longer than wax, but take longer to apply and may offer more gloss at the cost of a warm "wet" look.
The Zymol range is generally way over priced and hyped, your better off with a cheaper wax that's easy to use like Megs Mirror Finish or Megs HiTec Yellow Wax.
There is Collinite who do excellent waxes, they last AGES and are well priced, try their Double Coat or 845 for a liquid alternative.

You need to look on the Detailing World website. Those guys know everything about shiny cars. Personally, I have had good results with Meguiers 3 step programme, though Autoglym Super Resin polish is supposed to be very good at filling in scratches and swirls.
I am ashamed to say I have not washed or polished my car in several months. A sign, I think, that it is not a car I am excited about (Primera). If I had another old Saab I'd be out there every week.

Has anyone used www.turtlewaxuk.com/ice/main.htm
I fancy it because it's new and will also do black trim, but I have so many half used bottles of Polish, I have forbidden myself from buying any more until they're all gone.

I did the Scenic at the weekend with the usual mix of Mer shampoo followed by a rinse, chamois, and a coat of Auto Glym Super Resin
The results wouldn't excite the detailers, but I thought it looked fabulous afterwards. Always come back to this combo of shampoo and polish.
Cheers

I'm satisfied with Turtle Wax Original. To detect any difference between two products you'd have to see two similar cars side by side (or two panels of the same car), each polished with one of the products. I'm tempted to try Wilko Liquid Polish on a part of my car purely because of its low price ~ £1.99 for 500 ml. At that price if it's no good I can afford to just throw it away.
