M25 chaos near Heathrow[Read only] - wotspur
Again a desperate father feels so desperate to obtain rights to see his child/ren he holds up traffic for hours on the M25.
Whilst I have every sympathy with those being inconvenienced, I feel something has to be done by the Govt to give men fair treatment -
I Know of several fathers who've been stopped from seeing their kids for being victims of the x's affairs and lifestyle and courts always seem to take the mothers side
There is 2 sides to every story, but why does the motorway have to be shut ??

Having friends who have received very rough justice - in fact it's not justice at all but blatant discrimination - when it comes to access to their kids, I also have much sympathy with his cause.

However, I don't see how inconveniencing ordinary people trying to get to/from work will do anything other than turn people off. If he was blocking the route into Parliament or Downing Street, or doing something to inconvenience the government ministers who can actually "fix" the problem, it would be different. How on Earth does increasing my journey time this evening from the normal Friday 2 hours, to 3+ achieve anything helpful?

Enough people like yourself will write to their MP's demanding that they do something about the unjust system, the demonstrations will stop and you'll go back to your two hour grind.

I would not willingly return to that commuter way of life even for triple the salary I had when I lived there...

I imagine the people who will miss their flights and the people who will be getting off planes to find their loved ones not there to meet them for a couple of hours may take some persuading to support the actions of these people, however worthy their cause may be.

To keep it on motoring, it's why I think truckers on rolling road-block fuel protests are irresponsible boneheads who damage their cause.

I couldn't agree more, Nsar - well said.

Both Fathers4Justice and the truckers have a very strong case, which most of us wholeheartedly support. There must be so many more imaginative ways to draw attention to their cause that get just as much publicity but don't inconvenience the rest of us or disrupt our lives.

I'm not of course comparing these people directly to terrorists, but they too could in many cases make a convincing argument for their cause if they didn't take or threaten innocent lives.

A grown man dressing up as a comic book hero and scaling a tall building/structure shows a bit of imagination.

If the public were not inconvenienced there wouldn't be the amount of publicity.

The road network is easy to disrupt which makes it an easy and popular target.

wouldnt it have been imaginative to have choosen a road that isnt at a standstill for the majority of the day anyway
M25 chaos near Heathrow - ifithelps
On a quieter road it would be harder to cause disruption.

The M25 is on a knife edge of gridlock anyway, which means there's a 20mile queue as soon as someone drops a fag paper.
