1986 2.3D Oil loss via rocker cap - burge
My seirra diesel has started blowing oil out of the breather cap on top of the rocker box, making quite a mess in the engine bay. my oil pressure gauge still reads as it always has. What could be the problem?

Blocked crankcase or other breather?

There is no Crankcase breather or any where that one could be fitted to this 2.3D engine.
there is a hole at the back of the rockers that the oil drops down to the sump, and a pipe that goes from the rocker breather back to the inlet manifold & they are all clear!

Check your compressions;could be bore or piston problems.

Ah Burge, been there, done that, but mine was the 2.5 lump in the granada.

If its getting a bit heavy breathing, you'll probably find that oil residue is being blown down the breather pipe and soaking your air filter in gunge, at least that was the situation on the granada as the pipe fed in the wrong side of the filter.
Before i reconditioned mine, there was enough pressure upstairs to push your hand off the oil filler cap!

I disconnected that pipe, blocked the inlet side, and connected a longer hose to expel the fumes below the engine.
