97 1.9 tdi problem with knocking - didish

I have a R-reg 98 passat..There is a knocking when the steering is on full right hand lock..Over the past two years I have had x4 cv joints. These have not made any difference at all. The last time I was told it was a loose bolt. This has made no difference..HELP!!

presumably when moving ?

Check the various bushes on the suspension arms. These have a very complicated set or arms and the bushes go regularly. Look first at the two at the top. Is the rubber coming out of the arm? If they are OK move on through the rest - there are plenty to check. Look at the pinch bolt holding the top together as well.

At that age and average mileage then the heavy front end of the TDI have worn the suspension bushes. Regards Peter
