1996 1.9 Access to rear window motor. - pb49
A rear window motor, driver's side, has stopped working, fortunately (?) with the window closed. I found the earth wire was broken where it enters the door, from the B post, and soldered it back together. I now have power to the motor (verified at the motor's plug, but the motor only clicks and does not work. To remove the winder motor my Haynes manual suggests that I first remove the window glass. To do this the manual tells me to lower the glass so that I can reach the clamps holding the glass to the mechanism but I am unable to do this. Does anyone know how I can remove the glass, or do I really need to do this?

Just for the record - I did not get any replies to my query. I tried hitting the motor with a hammer whilst holding the switch 'down'. That did the trick and it has continued to work OK.
