Today, in the Tesco carpark, I observed a guy in a black open top sportscar turn up a one way passage and dart into a mother and baby parking bay. The boot opened and I was treated to a display of modern engineering as a sectional hardtop glided into view and settled in place faultlessly. Very different from the hand operated, fingernail removing, soft tops I was accustomed to. I thought BMW, y?know, bad mannered something etc., but it wasn?t. It was a Mercedes. Have the BMW drivers gone upmarket ?
