2004 1.8LS - Wheel Bearing Failed? - Ian71
My 2004-54 Vectra 1.8 LS estate started with a vibration yesterday afternoon which then turned into a rumble and felt 'a bit funny' above 40mph. The vibration feels like there is something on the tyre, but is definitley mechanical. It feels like it is coming from the front passenger side of the car and is much owrse when turning right.

I have booked the car into the dealer next week to investigate, but I am not keen on using the car just in case I do more damage.

My guess is that the wheel bearing may have failed, but I am not entirely sure.

Is there a history of this sort of thing on Vectras? Also, bearing in mind the car is only 3 and a half years old with only 37,000 miles on it would I be right in trying to seek a contribution of costs from Vauxhall? It does strike me as being a potentially expensive job.

I would appreciate any thoughts - thank you in advance!

If it's developing that fast, don't use it until a competent person has examined it.

You have checked the wheelnuts are tight?

I wouldn't waste your time asking Vauxhall to help - out of warranty=your problem as far as my experience has been.

Agree with Screwloose though - must be worth checking ASAP

I wd third that. I confess to my shame that I once drove off in a car one of whose wheels I had forgotten to tighten properly. Blush.

Thats low mileage for a bearing but not impossible to be faulty, is there a clicking sound on full lock?

Im thinking worn cv joint which is a little cheaper for labour etc.
