Rover 400 (1995 - 1999) - 1999 420 petrol - knocking noise when cornering

1999 420 petrol - knocking noise when cornering - giggles57380
When turning slowly round corners eith to the left or the right there seems to be a knocking noise from the front wheels, I can't find what the problem is, I thought it might be the bottom ball joint but to happen on both sides at the same time is a bit strange. Can anyone suggest what else it could be???

Sounds like a CV joint to me - is it more of regular loud 'click' rathern than a knock?

Does it disappear (or significantly quieten) if you dip the clutch?
