1996 1.1 - High idle - Herr Minger
I have a 1.1 106 N reg(1996) and I have just replaced the Lambda sensor and the cat as they were Knackered. The problem is that I still have an idle speed that is too high. Sometimes when the engine is warm, the idle will drop but not always. Any Ideas?

If its got Bosch singlepoint injection then the idle contol valve is a unit that has a plunger that presses on the throttle linkage to control idle speed. It can easily be replaced (GSF sell them much cheaper than main dealer). These items are a known cause of problems. Can also cause " Kangarooing ". You can check the resistance across the terminals but it will probably take me days to find (will try tomorrow) the figures.

I'd check the coolant temp sensor.

I have replaced the lambda sensor ,the cat,and the temp sensor and the problem is still there. The idle is high when cold and sometimes high when hot but not all the time. any ideas

I changed the coolant Temp sensor on the gearbox side of the block. It has a green conector
