1999 1.4 - Temp light on - Siba
Hi

I have noticed my temperature light flashing - sometimes when the engine is started (but if I switch and re-start it stops flashing ) and today, it started to flash after i had been driving for about 10 mins. Not sure what it is and everything else sounds and feels normal. Can anyone help?

My car is a 1.4, 1999 model. {Which SHOULD have been included in the subject header, as per the 2 sticky requests, and a further request under the subject header when you composed this question!}

hopefully shouldn't be too expensive to put right!

Not being funny, but to check the coolant level is a basic check (along with other fluid level checks) and shouldn't cost you anything other than a few mins of your time to consult the cars handbook and pop the bonnet and look.

I'm sure if the headgasket goes due to overheating, it will be VW's fault!! Simple checks like coolant, oil and brake fluid should be done weekly. I think your car will have all colour coded bits (usually yellow) that need weekly checks so are easily identifiable..
