Can you get a universal EV charger box?

My son had an EV charger installed FOC in his garage as part of a Government scheme to encourage EV use. He is now in the process of purchasing a Renault Zoe, but the in his garage has a five pin socket. The Zoe needs a seven pin socket which means he is having to have a new charger installed. Why hasn't anyone addressed this?

Completely mad, but in fairness all the EV manufacturers have been trying to reach an agreement on a universal standard for 10 years. This is something the EC could have usefully directed on.
