Road tax refund (exporting car) - jonrice
Hi, quick question if anyone knows, I selling my car the buyers taking it out of the country and I will have 6 months left of road tax on it can I get this back in money?.

I have gone to the DVLA site and looked up this sorn business but it seems a can not get my money back. rip off if thats the case.

Any thoughts.

you can get a form for this from your local post office, fill it in, afix the tax disc and they'll send you a cheque - did this when the Astra was scrapped about 18 months ago.

Get a form from the Post Office, send it to DVLA with the VED disk and they'll refund for each complete month left.

when I called them, they hinted that I could'nt get a refund if the cars leaving the country.

If you leave the country with it,you can't reclaim until it is registered in another country-however,if someone else is exporting it,no problem.
