More than a dozen motorists were left stuck in a car park when a car's central locking system malfunctioned and blocked drivers' key fobs.

Hmmm... A C/lock system receives signals from the fob - it doesn't usually transmit them.

A 50m-wide field strong enough to disable other systems doesn't sound like any normal standard-fit equipment.

Somebody fitted a radar-gun jammer to their car?

Or is all this a cover-story to divert attention from a new police comms installation.... They really do upset other systems.

Seem to remember hearing/reading something about this last year, it was happening regularly to several cars a day on a supermarket carpark, seem to recall it was traced to a nearby phone mast.
