Not a bad programme from the ITV stable, spoilt by three ad breaks and a lengthy 'still to come...' section at the end of each part, so an hour becomes about 40 minutes of programme meaning too little time to cover 2 incidents properly.
One crash was on Torquay front - 72 in a 30 resulting in car hitting a tree and seriously injuring a passenger, second was on A38, out of control flipping over killing 17 year old passenger. It went some way to explaining why motorways are shut for so long - gathering evidence takes hours and this can be vital as passengers of vehicles lie and witnesses cannot be relied upon.
Guy in the Torquay crash said he was doing about 30 prior to the crash and witness said the alleged driver was seen exiting from the rear - both statements were wrong.
One for recording so the ads can be ziped through.

Did show the hard work, the investigating officers put in, to prove the blindingly obvious, but required for our courts, or to persude the offender to admit their guilt.
Tragic waste of the young girls life, horrid injuries for the young ex sailor & the luckiest positioning of a tree, for him.
Don't think it makes entertaining viewing, or informing either come to that, as we all know what's going to result if you drive that way.
If the series develops to show something that the Police discover, that wasn't due to foolish drivers & was perhaps more down to being able to work out 'what went wrong' somewhere, maybe worth watching again.

I watched it, what would be useful was if they added a section, by top traffic cops, in how to avoid accidents, and what to do if.....
you have a blow out at 70 on a motorway
skidding on ice , oil
what emergency vehilces would want us to do to get through traffic jams,
but over all, better than many programmes around

After having a lift in a Dev and Cornwall traffic police car after an accident, the Traffic cop seemed to have more files and paper work in the car than traffic / accident equipment.
Often wondered when I see them parked up in laybys at busy roundabouts, whether they (or one of them) spend the time doing the paperwork rather than reading the paper as is commonly thought.
I'd be very interested to know how many crashes are caused by manufacturing defects rather than driver error or bad maintenance of the vehicle. Anyone know of a good site for crash stats?

The US NTSB is excellent - there are full reports on (pretty much) every transport accident in the USA, and the bureau's own analysis of trends over time. If you wanted to get a feel for the defect/driver/maintenance balance in accident causes, it's a good place to start.
Go to www.ntsb.gov, select "Highway", then "Publications". All freely available, as per US law that (sensibly, IMO) says if the public paid for the information to be generated through their taxes, then they should have open access to it.
Don't read the air or rail sections just before a long journey if you're of a nervous disposition, though :-)
