One bright and sunny morning (they usually are here in Israel), I came downstairs to find that my right (as seen from inside the car) headlamp had been made off with. As there are no second hand ones around, and a new one costs almost as much as my car is worth (no doubt the reason for the theft), I am considering buying one next time I'm in the UK. (I can use the car in the mean time as it won't start raining here till October at the earliest - eat your hearts out.)
Would anybody know whether an offside headlamp for a RHD car would be suitable for my nearside headlamp on my LHD version, or would the glass pattern throw the beam the wrong way?
Thanks for your help

It will yes.
Get a L/H drive one in France. Probably easier to get and cheaper.

Yes, you will need a LHD glass and it might be best to plan ahead and get someone to get a new one for you because most of Europe's LHD 505s have ended up in Africa rather than in French scrapyards. I once counted about 70 504s and 505s on the 20-minute journey to work in Benin.

You could try ebay, though they may still cost too much and delivery to Israel may be a problem.

or a RHD one with a continental deflector? not ideal but...?

Many thanks for your considered advice.
Well, I've just gone out and doubled the value of my car: bought a new headlamp (in a box no less) and filled up with petrol, which costs the equivalent of 71p per liter.
