Took the caravan tyres in the back of the car today to pump them up with the garage's free air line. When I got to the spare the sound of air hissing into the tyre changed and I felt a draught where I was holding the air line onto the valve. The whole tyre valve stem crumbled and came away with the air line valve and the tyre went down. I'm glad the spare wasn't being used on the caravan at the time. The main tyres have Tyron safety bands, but not the spare, on the principle that lightning doesn't strike twice etc.
