Just had a glossy 28 page booklet from a company called The Garage Door Team put through my letterbox. According to their website (www.thegaragedoorteam.com ) they're a franchise, but I've not heard of them before.
As a new garage door is on the agenda later in the year, I would be grateful to know if any Backroomers have experience of this company.
Thanks.

A franchise is only as good as the work of the person who has bought it and is trying to make a living from it. There should be standards applied by the franchisee but I'd want to see some installations done by the man you are proposing to employ before handing over my dosh. So many horror stories about conservatory builders- tread with care! Do you want to be the first installation he does?

If you look at the forum link you will see that I previously made a personal recommendation to www.garagedoorautomation.com/ . This still stands, and I asked him to look at the prices apparently advertised by the franchise operation referred to by the OP. The owner of the business (they are one of the largest independents in home counties, with all work carried out by employees) is surprised at how the operation can be profitable at the prices quoted.
Look very carefully at the prices to see what hidden extras may be involved, or whether regional surcharges exist. Try and find a reference sale in your own area. I will be very interested to hear what the outcome is if you go ahead with the supplier.

I have just had a door supplied and fitted by www.nationaldoors.com/
They were very reasonably priced, did an excellent job I would definitely recommend them

Not long ago I purchased a Wessex GRP door from: www.thegaragedoorking.co.uk/ I was very satisfied with the product and with the service which I received. IIRC, it was the only on-line site which gave prices on-screen for every product. I visited their Birmingham showroom before making my mind up. They were very competitive compared with other offers.

I have a Wessex door, except mine came from Wickes and cost a little over £200 about three years ago. Excellent value for money. If you are just replacing one door with another and you are a reasonably competant DIYer, I'd say fit it yourself. It's a very straightforward job.
