Hi all,
It is insurance renewal in July and lookign to get the cheapest quote possible. Here is my scenario
3 points obtained in October 2002
By my reckoning the points are eligle to come off in 4 years time - October 2006
But
You have to declare them on insurance for 5 years - October 2007
So I if renew insurance in July and declare no points, that means I would be lying for 3 months.
I know its wrong
Question is - Would any of you do it and would I be Ok with it if I didnt have a bump?
|
What's that? Oh yes.... er....
|
??? Is that not clear enough, which bit?
|
I am suggesting a bit of creative vagueness, TO.

If you don't read the insurance Co's. terms and conditions, which probably include something like "you must declare all previous convictions", they are unlikely to have much sympathy in the event of your claiming - not just for three months, either.

You buy insurance because a) it's a legal necessity for almost everybody, and b) so that if there's an incident you don't have to sell all your assets to pay. In view of a, b, and c - that three points will probably make no difference whatsoever to your premium, no I would not do it.
N.B. a "bump" might turn out to be quite a large one, or damaging if you "bump" a soft thing, for instance a person. If the insurance co. could reduce their payment to you in view of your undisclosed conviction and their not-so-small print, it could be *very* expensive!

Suppose I am risking £££ a lot of pounds for a 20 quid saving
get your point, wont do harm for another year?
Also
I have been involved in 3 non fault claims in that past 3 years, all monies reclianed from other partys. Would that increase my premuim. All not my fauilt, all other partys admitted. I mysilf have 6 years no cliams, also 25 so hope for cheap insurance

That should not affect your premium or your NCD.

|
Please note that the points have not been removed, but will be removed b4 july
How much is it, i was told 20 quid per point is that about right
|
To find out what it might cost, try an on-line quote with appropriate personal details, and get another on-line quote from the same company and actually declare your points. You could always try enquiring from a good old-fashioned broker, too.

Swinton are now ignoring the first 6 points if they are for speeding offences.

Insurance contracts are 'utmost good faith'. In other words, they are entitled to void it if you did not disclose the fact.
So basically you would be as ok as if you had no insurance at all.
Just disclose it.

I will look at the link tho
