Saab 1.9 TiD cam belt? - nick62
Does the above engine (Fiat) have a belt or is it a chain cam?

If it is belt driven, what is the change interval and how much would I expect to pay a Saab agent for the work?

Belt driven.

Vauxhall change recommendation is:

Z19DTH = 10 yrs, or 100,000 miles.

Z19DT =
04MY 6 yrs, or 80,000 miles.
05MY & 06MY 10 yrs, or 100,000 miles.

I *imagine* it will be same for your Saab.

No idea of price.

5 years seems much more sensible. Surely it would be foolhardy to leave a cam belt in place for 10 years no matter what the mileage.

Yes both the 4 pot & the 5 pot are 72K or 5 years.
It's very rare for the belts to break but their have been cases of seized tensioners, which can trash the belt.
